The coronavirus has caused a lot of stress and fear all over the world and I can just imagine how a new mom would feel about taking her baby to a new place just weeks after delivery! Luckily I do pride myself on the cleanliness of my studio and the practices I've had in place even before 2020 but now more than ever I am taking extra precautions to ensure that you and your baby are safe while you are in my Sandy Utah studio.
1. I have a VERY strict no illness policy
If you, your child, spouse or other member of your household isn't feeling well I ask that they stay home or that we reschedule. This includes me as well! This way none of us are exposed to unwanted illness. I understand that rescheduling can sometimes feel disappointing or even very inconvenient but you can be assured that your (and your baby's!) health and safety are my first priority.
2. Sanitizing between clients
This is something I've always done, but I am extra thorough now. I sanitize everything in the studio and focus especially on highly touched surfaces including door handles and even my camera. I vacuum the floors, wipe down any kid toys, mop the entryway and sanitize all props that will be near or touching your baby. All shoes are removed before coming into the studio area because I have many babies that are crawling and it's so important that the floor is clean. I also keep several bottles of hand sanitizer around my studio so my assistant and I can use it periodically during the session.
3. Very little contact with babies
While obviously this one can be hard to do with a newborn I am very careful to not cough or sneeze, or touch my face while holding your baby. With sitter sessions and 1 year old cake smash sessions I try to have very minimal contact with them at all and have parents help out when needed to avoid unnecessary contact. I also wear a mask the entire time and ask my clients to wear them as well if they are not actively participating during the pictures.
Most of all, I want your session to be an enjoyable experience! I know that when booking a newborn session we can be worried about outfits, nervous about baby cooperating, maybe nervous about outfits or what we want to wear and hopefully taking these extra precautions can help you relax a little when it comes to worrying about any illness. Come and know that you are going to be taken care of and in good hands!
